For years cannabis users have insisted that the good leaf has enhanced their sexual experiences.
But due to issues of legality there has been very little scientific evidence to back up that claim… until now.
Researchers at the Saint Louis University in Missouri recently published their paper “The Relationship Between Marijuana Use Prior to Sex and Sexual Function in Women” in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
The objective of this study was “to determine if marijuana (THC) use before sex affects the sexual experience, by how much, and which domains of sexual function are affected.”
They conducted a survey asking 133 sexually active women at a particular ObGyn practice about using marijuana before sex, with 38 reporting that they did so regularly.
Of those women, 68 percent reported more pleasurable sex, 16% said it ruined their sexual experience, while the remaining 16% were undecided.
Among those who reported enhanced sexual pleasure, 72% said it always did so, while 24% said it sometimes did. Almost 62% said it enhanced the quality of their orgasms and their libidos in general.
Interestingly, 16% of these women also disclosed they purposefully use marijuana prior to sex specifically to relieve any potential pain associated with the act.
And it’s not just THC making things more pleasurable.
